Mentorship
At the Latinx Therapist Project, we understand the unique challenges faced by Latino individuals as they pursue careers in mental health. Our Mentorship Program is designed to provide guidance, support, and community for aspiring all the way to established and seasoned clinicians helping them thrive in their journey of a mental health professional. Thanks to our funding partners, all mentorship program services are free of charge.
Who We Serve
Our mentorship program connects Latino individuals at all stages of their mental health journey with experienced Latino clinicians who share their values and background. From exploring the field as a student or career-changer to advancing as a graduate, early-career, or seasoned clinician, participants receive guidance on topics like burnout, finding a niche, transitioning to private practice, and balancing personal and professional challenges.
Program Details
Our mentorship program offers flexible meeting options tailored to mentee needs, including monthly, quarterly, or as-needed check-ins, conducted virtually or in-person. Mentors are experienced Latino clinicians with at least two years of post-master’s experience, verified licenses, strong references, and a passion for giving back to their community. Mentees must identify as Latino, and all programming is provided completely free of charge.
Why This Program Matters
Increasing the number of Latino mental health providers is essential to reducing the healthcare disparity gap in our communities. As one Denver Behavioral Health Director shared, “We have 300 people on our waiting list waiting for a Spanish-speaking therapist.”
Through mentorship, we’re building a pipeline of compassionate, culturally responsive clinicians who can meet this critical need.
