Through partnerships with schools, colleges, and community organizations across Colorado, our staff attends career fairs, outreach events to educate and inspire the Latino community in pursuing mental health careers
Cultivating interest in mental health as a career pathway among Latino
The Recruitment Program inspires Latino individuals—ranging from middle school students to professionals considering career changes—to explore mental health as a career path. Through partnerships with schools, colleges, universities, and community organizations across Colorado, the program seeks to increase Latino representation in the mental health workforce and address disparities in mental health care access for Latino Coloradans.
Why it Matters
Increasing the number of Latino Coloradans becoming mental health therapists is essential to addressing the mental health provider shortage and reducing healthcare disparities. With many Latino individuals in Colorado preferring culturally and linguistically attuned care, a more representative mental health workforce ensures greater accessibility, trust, and effectiveness in addressing the unique challenges faced by Latino communities.

How the Recruitment Program Works
The program builds partnerships with schools, colleges, and community organizations to inspire Latino individuals to pursue careers in mental health. It features engaging activities such as career days, tabling events, and informative presentations to spark interest and awareness. Participants also have access to valuable support, including mentorship opportunities, to guide them on their journey toward entering the mental health field.
Our Vision for Change
The program aims to inspire and support Latino and Spanish-speaking individuals in becoming mental health professionals, ultimately reducing the healthcare disparity gap in Colorado’s Latino communities. Beneficiaries include students exploring mental health career pathways, professionals considering a career shift, and parents seeking to support their children’s interests in mental health careers. Community partners also benefit by collaborating on workforce development opportunities and providing valuable referrals to strengthen the mental health workforce.
